While shopping for a motor home, have you been finding that they are just a bit too big for your needs?
It may be the right time to take a good hard look at Class B sized motor homes. Class B motor homes offer many of the features and benefits of the larger Class A & C models, but are smaller and more maneuverable than their bigger brothers. Unfortunately, not many Recreational Vehicle Dealers stock the Class Bs, so you may have to do some research and a little traveling to find what you are looking for.
Class B motor homes, "Van Campers" as they are commonly referred, are the smallest, most maneuverable and often the must economical of motor homes on the road today. Not much larger than an SUV, they feature all the comforts of home, travel well in and around town, and provide a useful and effective mode of vacation and/or business travel.
Most Class Bs start their life as cargo vans and are converted for camping and touring. Roofs are raised, floors lowered and sometimes the sidewalls are moved out to create extra interior space. Some Class Bs are built from scratch by the motor home manufacturers and will have a more aerodynamic look with a molded fiberglass body.
Of course, space is sacrificed in a Class B motor home but not the important amenities that a weary road traveler needs. Kitchens, bathrooms, sleeping up-to-4, heat & air-conditioning, and in some cases more seating than larger motor homes are standard features on many of the manufacturers brands. The extra seating they feature often makes a Class B a great second family car.
With the proper equipment, Class B motor homes can tow a large array of small trailers; camping trailers, motorcycles, horse trailers, boats, etc… They are extremely versatile when it comes to combining them with your hobbies and interests.
Although the RV shopper commonly overlooks Class B motor homes, you might take the time to check them out and explore some of their benefits.
