Peggy Singlemann
Ms. Peggy M. Singlemann graduated from the State University of New York at Cobleskill with a degree in Horticulture and is a Certified Nurseryman through the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association. She earned her North American Certificate in Horticulture through the American Public Garden Association, of which she is a member. She is a member of the Central Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association, the Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association, the Southern Garden History Society and the American Hemerocallis Society.
Since 1984 Ms. Singlemann has been the Director of Horticulture at the Maymont Foundation in Richmond, Virginia. Maymont is a 100-acre Victorian estate, willed to the City of Richmond for use as a public park. Along with the pastoral grounds and formal gardens, Maymont has native Virginia wildlife exhibits and a Children’s Farm. It is managed by the Maymont Foundation, a non-profit organization. As Director of Horticulture Ms. Singlemann is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of a formal Italian Garden, a 4-acre Japanese Stroll Garden, annual and perennial borders, native plant areas, as well as the Arboretum that encompasses Maymont’s 100 acres.
Ms. Singlemann lectures throughout the mid-Atlantic region, is a regular on WCVE's Virginia Home Grown and has been published in local and national periodicals such Horticulture magazine.
