SEE WHY SO MANY SEEKING HOME IMPROVEMENTS

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

LINCROFT, NJ – Whether you are in search of a landscape designer to help turn the backyard into a haven for summer entertaining or window treatments to match new living room furniture, you will find experts and a wide range of products that meet your needs at the 18th Annual MAC Events Jersey Shore Home Show.

The Jersey Shore Home Show runs from January 11 to January 13 at Brookdale Community College, conveniently located just off Exit 109 on the Garden State Parkway. Parking is free and plentiful.

“People come to home shows for as many reasons as there are home improvement projects. One reason they all seem to share is finding what they want at a better price,” said show director James McLaughlin, president of MAC Events. “This show draws a good crowd of buyers and that’s driven interest from vendors. So, there are a lot of products and the exhibitors are very competitive.”

The Jersey Shore Home Show features more than 125 of the region’s most innovative manufacturers and sellers of home furnishings, window treatments, kitchen cabinetry, appliances, security systems, air conditioning and heating systems, indoor and outdoor furniture, cookware, swimming pools and spas, and landscaping companies.

“There are so many simple and inexpensive ways to make your home more upscale or unique and the exhibitors in this show cover most of them,” McLaughlin said. “This is a great opportunity to test your ideas on the experts.”

Show visitors seeking decorating help will find a number of sources, including Siperstein’s Paint & Decorating Centers’ exhibit, where the professional decorating staff will help them select the latest Hunter Douglas window treatments, window toppers, draperies, paints, wallpaper and many other elements for improving a home’s interior. Siperstein’s will feature a new peal-and-stick chalkboard for kids’ rooms that doesn’t harm the paint on the walls and comes in a choice of four colors.

People looking for improvements that add the greatest value enhancement to a home will have a wide choice of kitchen and bath experts. They range from companies that do complete kitchen and bath renovations to others that will resurface a tub or kitchen countertop to give a bath or kitchen new life.

Kitchen and bath exhibitors at the show will include Wholesale Kitchens of Perth Amboy; Kitchen Magic of Bloombury, NJ; Classic Ceramic Tile, East Brunswick; Kitchen King, Toms

River; Luxury Bath Systems of Sayreville; KRFC Kitchen & Bath Design, Lakewood; Sound Design Construction, Ocean Township; Builders Kitchens of NJ, and Benchmark Counter Top Design of Lakewood.

“Kitchens have become one of the most used rooms in the home and many have cabinetry that is long overdue for a makeover,” said Renate I. Fleck, vice president of marketing of family-owned-and-operated Kitchen Magic, adding the company can cut the cost of new cabinets up to 50% by re-facing instead of replacing them.

This is the time of year to start planning home improvements that you want to enjoy this summer.

“January-February is the best time to go to a home show for renovations so you’re not tied up during the summer with home improvements,” said Rosemarie Gawroriski, executive administrator of Luxury Bath Systems of Sayreville, which will exhibit cast acrylic bathtub liners and shower resurfacing systems.

The winter also is the time to find craftspeople to complete your outdoor projects this spring.

The Jersey Shore Home Show features a variety of outdoor home improvement experts, including GROUNDS KEEPER Inc. of Matawan; Colonial Nursery, Lincroft; Robert James Landscape, Brick; NaturalLawn of America, Morganville; Blue Haven Pools of Pennsylvania; E Z Living Spas of Pearl River, NY; Paradise Projects of Oceanport; Seaside Materials Inc. of Long Branch; Star Dust Pools of East Brunswick, and Four Seasons Remodeling, a Green Brook company specializing in sunrooms.

“Ultimately it’s outdoor living space and entertaining space. Hopefully, it’s the favorite room of someone’s home,” said Jay Eriv of GROUNDS KEEPER, which is putting together a garden for the Jersey Shore Home Show to demonstrate options for making that space better to serve a homeowner’s lifestyle.

Multi-tiered spaces are in vogue, creating innovative spaces people are using for everything from cooking to quiet reading nooks amid the scents of an herb garden.

“Our people in the field tell us the most popular outdoor trend is creating an entertaining environment with planting materials, fire pits and outdoor kitchens,” said Alyssa Shropshire, point of sale administrator at Colonial Nursery, Lincroft. “This absolutely is a good time of year to plan outdoor improvements so you have a good idea of what you’re going to do and can get start in the spring.”

The 18th Annual MAC Events Jersey Shore Home Show will be open Friday, Jan. 11, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday, Jan. 12, from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, and on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 through 17. Children 11 and under are admitted free. Seniors can take advantage of a Friday special admission price of $5.00 and couples can take advantage of two-for-one date-night admission after 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.
