ENHANCE A HOME’S LIVABILITY, VALUE WITH KITCHEN & BATH EXPERTS AT JERSEY SHORE HOME SHOW

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

LINCROFT, NJ – Kitchen and bath upgrades are a great way to enhance your daily living as well as your home’s value and visitors to the 18th Annual MAC Events Jersey Shore Home Show will find a selection of craftspeople and product specialists to help them get their projects underway.

“Kitchen and bath improvements are the reason many people attend home shows,” said show director James McLaughlin, president of MAC Events. “You can get a better deal on these upgrades at a home show, where an exhibitor’s competitors are a hundred feet away, than you would if you spent hours driving from one kitchen & bath company to another.

“When you improve either one of these rooms you really boost your home’s value and everyone in the family benefits every day.”

The Jersey Shore Home Show will offer a variety of kitchen & bath companies that will do everything from complete renovations to resurfacing a shower when the show opens for January 11, 2008, for a three-day run at Brookdale Community College. The show also features more than 125 of the region’s most innovative manufacturers and sellers of home furnishings, window treatments, kitchen cabinetry, appliances, security systems, air conditioning and heating systems, indoor and outdoor furniture, cookware, pools and spas, and landscaping companies.

Many of the exhibitors in the show are well-established companies in the central New Jersey area. Kitchen Magic, for instance, has been providing custom re-facing and new cabinetry since 1979.

“Kitchens have become one of the most used rooms in the home. The initial visual scope of the kitchen focuses on the cabinetry, which in some homes is long overdue for a makeover,” said Renate I. Fleck, vice president of marketing for the family-owned-and-operated company.

Homeowners can save up to 50% by re-facing cabinets instead of replacing them.

“More than 90% of homeowners plan to leave the layout of their kitchen basically the same. If your kitchen is well built, well designed and functional there is really no reason to take out your cabinets. Re-facing is a trend that definitely is gaining in popularity,” Fleck said. “You can use the money you save by re-facing to update other parts of the kitchen like countertops, appliances and flooring.”

Trombe Flooring will be showing popular surfaces for kitchens and baths as well as some carpeting.

“I’m doing a great deal more with hard surfaces, tile and wood,” said Marty Tracone of the family-owned flooring company. “The hard surfaces are easier to maintain.

“In the bath, porcelain tiles remain popular. But you can use anything in a bathroom, depending on the style and period you want to affect. Natural colors are more popular. People are staying a little more subdued,” he said.

It takes five-to-seven weeks to get a bathroom renovation scheduled, which is one of the reasons many people attend home shows this time of year.

“January-February is the best time to go to home show for renovations so you’re not tied up during the summer with home improvements,” said Rosemarie Gawroriski, executive administrator of Luxury Baths in Sayreville.

Luxury Baths will exhibit two bathtub liners and a shower system it uses in resurfacing old bathrooms to make them look like new.

The liners are a cast acrylic that looks like granite but can be refit to overlay existing tubs and showers. Luxury Baths also will exhibit a freestanding tub. Available in four different tile patterns, bath refit systems offer more than 20 designer colors.

“It’s a one-day process – anywhere from seven to 10 hours – and you have a new bathroom,” Gawroriski said. “There is no comparison in price. It’s one-third of the cost of a bathroom remodeling, $3,000 to $5,000 compared to $18,000 to $20,000.”

It may just be that your kitchen or bath just needs a new coat paint or window treatments, in which case you should stop by the displays of Siperstein’s Paint & Decorating Centers. One of the major exhibitors at the show, Siperstein’s will display new wall covering designs and Pittsburgh Paints in new colors for 2008. The company’s professional decorating staff will be on hand to offer free demonstrations of wallpapering and painting techniques, including faux finishing, throughout the show.

The 18th Annual MAC Events Jersey Shore Home Show will be open Friday, Jan. 11, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday, Jan. 12, from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, and on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 through 17. Children 11 and under are admitted free. Seniors can take advantage of a Friday special admission price of $5.00 and couples can take advantage of two-for-one date-night admission after 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.

The Jersey Shore Home Show is produced by MAC Events, a nationally recognized producer of high-quality business-to-consumer trade shows in a variety of industries and markets since 1968.
