CONSUMERS FIND OFFSEASON DEALS AT MAC EVENTS NEW JERSEY BOAT SHOW FEB. 21 TO 24
EDISON, NJ – MAC Events 21st Annual New Jersey Boat Show, February 21 through 24 at the NJ Convention Center, illustrates the broad range of boating on the region’s waterways with more than 375 watercraft, many available with manufacturer’s discounts and show incentives.
“The NJ Boat Show is very popular with consumers and is the best buying boat show in the state because it features so many local dealers doing business where show guests go boating,” said show director and MAC Events vice president Kevin McLaughlin.
With models representing 70 boat brands, the show offers every conceivable type of pleasure craft from 15-to-37 feet that you are likely to find plying the waters around and off of New Jersey and the New York Bight. The larger boats on exhibit include the two-time J.D. Powers customer satisfaction award winning Regal 3760 Commodore Express Cruiser with a fast stable hull and luxury appointments below.
The NJ Boat Show once again will feature a full lineup of free fishing seminars and hands-on clinics by The Fisherman Magazine, which brings together the region’s top professional and sports anglers to share tips and wisdom on local fisheries. The Fisherman also is offering its free clinics for kids throughout the show. A seminar schedule is available at www.macevents.com.
The NJ Convention Center is located in Raritan Center and convenient to the Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike, I-287 and Routes 1 and 9 and offers plenty of free parking.
Dealers are anxious to move out their remaining inventory during the winter, a traditionally slow time in the boat business, and some discount their boats by 10% to 15% for the show, according to McLaughlin.
“We sold all of the space in this 150,000-sf exhibit hall. That’s good for consumers because not only do they get to see more boats, but when you have this many dealers occupying the same space they price very competitively,” the show director said.
The Fall NJ Boat Show exhibits include boats by Grady White, Chaparral, Mariah Sport Boats, Wellcraft, Lowe, Suncruiser Patio Boats, Steiger Craft, Hydrasport, Maycraft, Duranautic, Pro Line, Luhrs, Regulator, Pursuit, Maxum, Seaswirl, Crownline, Robalo, Cruisers Yachts, Southwind by Bennington, Stingray, Sailfish, Triton, Century, Starcraft, Avalon Pontoons, Bayliner, Four Winns, Trophy, Sea Hunt, Baja, Glasstream, Sea Boss, Sea Ray, Laguna, Boston Whaler, Godfery Pontoon Boats, Hurricane, Sea Quest, Polar, Azure, Porta-Bote, Sea Pro, HarrisKayot, Sea Way Boats, Parker, Chris Craft, NauticStar, Keywest, Glastron, Sea Fox, Shamrock, Skagit Orca, Yamaha, Suzuki & Honda Outboards, Larson, Triumph, Cobia, Rinker, Sea Strike, Topaz, Stratos, Crestliner and Smokercraft as well as Sugarsand Jet Boats, Gekko Wakeboard & Waterski Boats, and a broad variety of personal watercraft by Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda.
One of the show highlights, the Regal 3760 Commodore Express, demonstrates how boaters can enjoy comfort in a fast, stable cruiser that makes offshore runs during the day and is a weekend home at the dock by night.
“The Regal 3760 has Corian countertops, a forward stateroom with a queen-size berth, a hardwood cabin sole and multiple flat screen televisions,” says Shawn O’Neill, sale manager of Shelter Cover Marina in Little Egg Harbor and Wildwood.
Available with a diesel or gasoline engine, the Regal 3760 relies on a wide, 12-foot two-inch beam and an Ocean Trac hull design to handle speeds of 50 mph comfortably. With 67 gallons of freshwater and 276 gallons of fuel, the family cruiser can accommodate six overnight passengers in a cabin with six-foot-five-inch headroom.
“The galley, like the rest of the 3760, is loaded and offers options including a microwave oven, refrigerator and coffeemaker,” O’Neill said.
“We have a huge incentive on a leftover model we’re bringing to the show,” he said. “In addition to a substantial savings on the price, we offer 3.5% state sales tax in our Wildwood store, which is in an enterprise zone.”
Shelter Cove is offering the Regal 3760 Express with a generator, air conditioning and a cockpit refreshment center that has an icemaker, refrigerator and pressure water, at a show price of $249,000.
Another awarding-winning Regal model, the 1900 bowrider, also will be on exhibit. The boat’s patented Fas Trac hull with an eight-foot-three-inch beam also provides stability in the price range of young families new to boating.
“This is a good time to buy a boat because the interest rates have just come down again, almost a full percentage point in the last two weeks,” O’Neill said.
The 21st Annual MAC Events NJ Boat Show also features a wide range of boating accessories and services including floating docks, marine jewelry, T-tops, custom fishing rods and fishing tackle, outboard and inboard engines, marine electronics, marinas, brokerage and insurance services.
“This is a big boat show and it presents an opportunity to crawl around more boats in a few hours – inside where it’s warm - than you could examine in days of driving in the cold from one dealer to another,” McLaughlin said. “Plus, the booth exhibits are vast. From the latest electronics to monogrammed fishing hats, if it’s a boating or fishing accessory, they’ll have it.”
The Fisherman’s free seminars and hands-on clinics are popular elements of MAC Events boat shows because they feature local anglers offering proven tips and techniques. The magazine’s clinics cover a range of nuts-and-bolts topics including knots to know, fly tying and bunker chunking.
The 21st Annual MAC Events Fall NJ Boat Show will be open Thursday, Feb. 21 and Friday, Feb. 22, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm; on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10:00 am to 9:00 p.m., and on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Admission is $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for children 12 through 17. Children 11 and under are admitted free. Seniors can take advantage of a special admission price of $8.00 on Thursday and Friday nights and adults can take advantage of two-for-one date night admission after 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.
The NJ Boat Show is produced by MAC Events, a nationally recognized producer of high-quality business-to-consumer trade shows in a variety of industries and markets since 1968. The Spring Lake, NJ-based family-owned company produces approximately 20 recreational vehicle, home, boat and flower & garden shows a year throughout New Jersey, Rhode Island and Virginia and is a source of market research for the recreational vehicle, boating and home improvement industries.
